Preparation Course for the Thai Foreign Ministry’s Recruitment, 2011(diplomatic service officer, practitioner level)
The main aim of this particular course is to provide students with a thorough understanding of the global society from the standpoint of international relations. It broadens students’ knowledge in contemporary diplomacy, international politics, international affairs and others that are needed in diplomatic practices concentrating mainly on the 21st century international affairs. Students will:
•be familiar with the fundamental principles and concepts of international relations,
•have a general view of the basic concepts in international economics at the micro and macro levels,
•have a good understanding of general principles of international law,
•have a critical recognition of international organizations with specific focus on the UN.
Since the course is designed to equip students with the specific knowledge and skills necessary for the ministry’s recruitment process, the learning process should be student-centered rather than teacher-centered. This way the students will be encouraged to contribute in the learning process like giving presentations and speeches.
